M found a caterpillar last week and it cocooned. We've been watching it everyday, and today it turned clear, then when we looked again it had hatched out as a beautiful monarch butterfly.The wings seemed moist and as they dried Mona (m named her) started to flap her wings every now and then. It took over an hour for her to figure out that she could fly. Then...up she went into our tree. M and her friend squealed with delight as they ran through the house and up the stairs onto the deck to watch her. It realy was very exciting!!

The summer has gone by so fast . School starts again on Wednesday, much to M's dismay.

I've been very busy trying to figure things out in second life. At least I can walk and fly..and am very happy I know how to put the cloths on.Found some very interesting groups ,and all sorts of things to play with.
Hopefully I can get my inventory cleaned up and organized better today. It will be nice to be able to find my stuff..hee hee hee.

Heading to Cincinnati to pick up A from the airport. It's as hot here as it is in TX,except for the humidity, which he sounds ready to be away from.Too bad he can't bring some rain back with him. M will have to go with me..so she will be bored the way there and they will be noisy on the way back. I do miss him and am glad he will be back.

Got the kids back, but then A went to TX for a week or so and M went to her dads for the weekend.
I've been faithfully walking 2 miles and riding my bike 3 miles on most days.I'll keep working that up so I can get back in shape faster.
Been busy harvesting from the garden ,while hoping for rain.I should have enough tomatoes and peppers to start making and canning salsa real soon.
Got the kids school cloths and supplies..so I seem to be on top of everything for now.
E is actually taking the day off tomorrow...he asked me what I want to do..I'm thinking a good long hike in the gorge would be fun.

house is way too silent.I was so looking forward to my quiet week while the kids went to camp. Next year I might have to send them on different weeks.
A is on his way to West Virginia for his rafting trip, but I could drive to camp and check on M..but I won't. I'm sure she is having a ball.I'll send her a letter.
This is too pathetic and can't be normal.

We loaded up and went for a canoe trip, except for 2 of the kids who wanted kayaks. Much fun, except D seemed to have gotten a defective canoe.

hiked up to a waterfall, and I do LOVE waterfalls!!
Then we headed over to the log slide, also known as devils slide.From the Log Slide Overlook you can see some of the world’s most pristine perched dunes, Grand Sable Dunes. The Dunes covers a 5 mile stretch between the Sable River and Au Sable.
I had to gasp at the beauty of the crystal clear waters of Lake Superior below.

The day we left I got up early to get everything ready. E came home and took a nap so he could drive all night. I stayed up thinking I could sleep on the way, but that didn't happen. We get there as the sun was coming up..I think we will set up the tent and I can take a nap. Nope, E wants everything set up, and it's his b-day, so I didn't argue, although I was sleep walking at this point. Finally at noon the anouncement is made that everyone has to take a nap till 3:00, then we are hiking to Lake Superior. All the kids went in the cabin, so it was only E and I out in a tent..so I still didn't get a nap..it was his b-day after all. SO we hike to the lake and it was beautiful
with all the rocks and clear water.

Stayed an extra day in the UP. E had a wonderful time..we all did. But we did have to come back, except for D who decided to stay and come back with my sister next week.

On the way back I called rsimon and it turns out he is in Ann Arbor, which we just drove through,and on the same road as us , but 40 miles behind!! Hopefully he will be able to work in a visit from me today. I'll drive the 2 hours to meet him there and do some shopping at cabela's too.

WE got home and immediately went to check the garden which is doing great..yippie the drought didn't kill it! The saints were happy to see us, fish are all alive and iguana seems to like being outside.

Have to apologize to ritzar12, I had just put all my trip pics on my computer and I got a bit carried away and sent him way too many . Yep there I was having all my great memories in front of me and drag and clicking away...sorry!!

Was great to sleep in my own bed instead of a blow up, but I'm very tired today, so I'll start posting my trip pics and stories when I feel more alive.

Got stung by a honey bee yesterday and today my foot is swollen and very itchy!! I did the usual things for a sting so I have no idea why today I'm about scratching my skin off. Did an ionic footbath a little while ago followed by about half a tube of lanacane and that helped.At least it's not the same foot I got with the power washer. E says he's wrapping me in bubble wrap for the camping trip..hee hee hee

Figured I should take a pic of my garden so I know how much it grows while I'm gone.


then M made a cute little bird in a nest out of the playdough I made for her yesterday.

I was impressed with it's open beak and it has webbed feet..hee hee hee

Our iguana babysitter fell thru, so I'm hoping one of the neighbors will feed him. I have his food growing in the garden, so all they would have to do is pick him a nice salad and put it in the cage..it's not like they have to play with it or take him for a walk.I can even put him outside in his cage with all this heat, he will love it.

All this last minute stuff to do and I'm sure I will forget something important..oh well....hope it's not one of the kids...I went to the chiropractor yesterday and M actually sat quietly and colored..she usually is a little chatter box..I was walking out the door when I remembered she was sitting there. I know, I know...bad mommy..

Leaving to go camping in the upper peninsula of Michigan on Friday. E has stopped freaking out about not having work to do while he is there. He just goes nuts without things to do...so he has packed this huge pile of stuff to bring. I'm not sure if it is all going to fit in the van I rented.Will have to use a car top carrier too. Now I'm freaking that we won't have room for the cloths that aren't packed yet!

We will be roughing it on private land without electricity or water, so I'm sure E will be busy building us all sorts of branch furniture or something.He's bringing the chain saw to play with, so it should be entertaining watching him come up with projects to do.

I'm looking forward to the cold evenings and mornings, but that also means I have to pack more cloths to try to fit in.I hear the bugs are terrible too..so I am well stocked up on bug spray.Bringing the bear spray too!
My lower back has been bothering me,but it seems to be doing better today.

Hung 2 loads of laundry on the line and I feel like I've just been to TX. HOT HOT HOT and muggy...yuck!Came in and kicked the air conditioner on.Looks like I'll have to keep it on for a few days until it cools back down.

I've been waiting for my lily pad flower to bloom..I put the plant in 3 years ago, but this is the first year I got a flower.


It finally opened up this morning!

A found this plant floating in the lake, so we planted it and we get great blooms from it every year. It's right outside the pond.

E had gotten up this morning and finished building the dock. I would have thought after working on that for so long in the hot sun he would be worn out.Wrong.( Read more )

I was by the lake observing the building of the boat dock when these ducks came swimming up. I was surprised that she got out of the water with them because we where only about 20 feet away. I crept up real slow..she let me get within 5 feet of them!I took the shot and backed up so she didn't get too nervous.

too bad I don't have a good zoom lens.

Ran some errands and when I got home the swing was finished...yeh!1 I love it..D did a very good job making it and they all did a fine job making the stand.
